9. Drive

Sometimes
The only thing that makes
The rest of the world
Feel real
Is to slip away from this place,

To grab the keys,
Start the car,
And drive.

Every now and then
I would sneak out of my bedroom,
Careful not to wake anyone else,
And take off into the night,
Driving along the highway until I reached
Another town,
Another quiet place
To sit and watch the sunrise,
A place to feel alive
When all else fails.

One of these days I'll drive away
And watch the sunset while I do it;
Pretty soon I'll know where I'm going,
And I won't have to
Drive anymore.
